I’m 60 and live in Shropshire, England. I’m a retired life coach. When I was coaching, I helped people learn to relax and make time for themselves. This is why I started creating coloring designs for grown ups.
COLORING.
I’ve always loved coloring. Two boys helped me love it more – John, my late brother, and Stephen M.
One of my earliest school memories involves coloring. I sat next to Stephen M. We had paper with squares on it and were told to color it in. I used all the colors I had. Stephen just used dark brown and orange. A simple pattern of colors on alternate squares but they looked good together.
John’s coloring was neat – mine was all over the place! He asked me once if I’d like to learn how to stay in the lines. I said yes, and he showed me how. I was 6 or 7. I still do it the way John showed me.
Between childhood and now, there were few opportunities for coloring. The only ones came when I went back to school and rediscovered Geography. I could color in maps! Wonderful! I went on to do half my Bachelor’s degree in Geography….
WHAT’S SO SPECIAL ABOUT COLORING?
Coloring helps you relax, wind down, focus on what you’re coloring and how you’re doing it. You can let go of everything when you’re coloring. For me, coloring is as relaxing as meditation.
Another benefit is using a pencil or pen helps keep your hands and fingers mobile. Vital as you get older.
I bought a coloring book for adults and didn’t think much of the designs. I thought I could do better myself. Luckily, a friend had got interested in creating coloring designs and she showed me how to do it. I got some training and am totally hooked on it.
For me, making up coloring designs is almost as relaxing as coloring them.
I love it!
