Doing something different can be scary, can’t it? You’re not sure if you could do it / be any good at it / and what if you fail???
Okay – what if you fail? What’s the worse that could happen?
Coaching Exercise.
It’s been a while since we’ve had any of these, eh?
“Why” and “what else” are useful with this, and it’s an exercise you can do on your own.
“I’m not sure I could do it,” “I haven’t done it before,” “It isn’t something I’ve wanted to try” are excuses.
The biggie is:
“What if I fail?”
Okay – what’s the worse that could happen?
“I’d lose everything.” Losing everything would be way down the line. What else?
“I’d be homeless.” You could be homeless if you lost everything. Focus on what if you fail.
“People would laugh at me.” What else?
“My family would disown me.” What else?
“I wouldn’t be able to hold my head up.” What else?
“I don’t know what else.”
When You Think You Might Fail.
What do you do? Carry on as normal or think of new tactics. New battle plans, if you like.
I’ve been working through this the last couple of months, and doing the coaching exercise on myself.
I knew that my coloring designs for adults weren’t the best but didn’t know how to improve them. I saw an ad from my main competitor advertising a training package on improving designs.
I kept putting it down, then picking it up, putting it down again. Bookmarked it, got it out and had another look and thought “It’s her. It’s – yeah. But she knows her stuff. No doubt about that. If nothing else, I’ll find out how she does what she does” so I booked my place.
I justified my actions by wanting to find out how she does hers. Really choked on my pride but I had be realistic about my situation.
Lessons Learned.
A few videos in, I’ve booked a place on her next course. We have different ideas but the tips I’ve picked up have improved my designs. Some have had to go but the ones that are left are so much better and crisper. And they can be coloured digitally
I hated having to swallow my pride but I’m delighted with the result. My confidence has improved because my designs look better, and I’m looking forward to designing more.
How about you?
What will you do? I mean, are you willing to do the coaching exercise on yourself?
If this has resonated with you, please share on social networks.
Warmly,

I LOVE coloring, love zen tangle too, that was my stress release for a while. Good for you getting designs done for others. And good for you, pushing through our doubt is sometimes the biggest obstacle.

Hi Maxine
Zen tangle and coloring are great for relieving stress. Doing something else for a few minutes is good
Thank you for your kind comments.
