I design journals. The Eclipse Journal was my first, and named because of the stunning image on the front.
Why Design Journals?
Journals are popular. Everyone has a journal, or there’s a journal for everything.
I’ve used plain lined journals for about 11 years, for writing about anything and developing myself.
My cataracts got worse and I couldn’t see to design coloring patterns, so I learned to design journals with this PowerPoint course from Sue Fleckenstein, Turning Your Content Into Ready Made Journals and Planners.
When you look in The Works or Wal-Mart, or on Amazon, there are hundreds of journals and they’re all sizes and shapes.
Want a journal to fit in your pocket/handbag? Yes, we do those.
Want a journal to write recipes in? Yes, we do those.
Want a journal to write about your work projects? Yes, we do those.
A Journal Isn’t Just a Journal.
Yes, a journal can be a planner. Let’s confuse things a bit.
Planners tend to have diary-type sections. For example, my diary has 365 pages for daily stuff plus a separate accounts section plus last year’s calendar and next year’s calendar.
Planners have a shortened version of each section on each page/two pages. For example, my daily planner has one page with my diary for today, a section for money in and out, a meal planner section, and goal for the day.
Like with journals, you can get planners for different things – weight loss planners, achievements planners, goals planners, golf planners, fishing planners, etc.
With planners, all you want is on the same page. Aaaahhhh!
How To Start Designing Journals and Planners.
Invest in Sue Fleckenstein’s PowerPoint course. It’ll give you an excellent grounding in all that you need to do to design and publish your journals and planners, and build your business. If you need help, Sue’s very good at responding to queries.
Canva.com is a good photo editing site for designing covers. You can design posters, social media posts, business cards, etc.
Practice daily. Get used to using the tools and improving your techniques. It’ll pay off in the end.
