When you first start exploring ColorMandala, you’ll feel like a kid in a sweet shop. You’ll open shapes like a kid opens packs and jars of sweets!
The thing to remember is – have fun!
While you’re having fun, you’re learning. And ColorMandala is a great place to learn.
What will you learn? To make your own designs so you can make your own coloring pages!
The image at the top is one I made after two years of exploring the wonderful ColorMandala.com. It’s a bit of a crazy design – looks like it’s on springs but it’s great for coloring.
When you first access ColorMandala.com, your options are Color, Print, Design new, Login / register. Ignore the last option.
Choose Design new.
There’s a blank screen with a box called Designer: All parts. That’s exactly what it contains. Hover over Add shape and you’ll get this list:
Diamond shape, Polygon, Circle, Flower, Braid, Pie / Circlepart, Twist, Triangle, Open star, Leaf, Heart, Overlapping Circles, Rectangle.
Open up a shape and you’ll see a box called Designer: Part details.
For example, Circle.
Open up Circle and the box will have Radius: a sliding scale and a box with up/down arrows and 100 in it.
Move the sliding scale to change the radius a large amount then fine tune with the up/down arrows.
Radius is the only measurement with the circle.
You can add a rotation level which will add, if you like, a layer.
Having a warped mind, I think of rotation levels like making a triple decker sandwich – they add something different / a contrasting flavor to the design / sandwich.
Oh, alright, it makes sense to me!
With the rotation level, you can add repeats (repeat your circles), position (where you position your circles), and rotation (put your circles in a different place).
You can add more rotation levels. The most I’ve added is five. Each time you add a part, it goes on the All parts list.
The rotation level options are the same on all parts, but the Part details differ depending on what you choose.
Get yourself along to http://colormandala.com and play! (I don’t expect you to recreate my design at the top 😉 )
