When you’ve had burgers or sausages or fish for every evening meal over the last eight weeks, you’ll appreciate weekly meal planners!
Planning The Planner.
What do you go for?
Do you want a simple page with seven days on or a page a day in blocks of seven?
It depends on how much detail you want to include.
You could have one page with seven days on and lines for a shopping list. You’re bound to be missing foodstuffs from your cupboards.
Include calories per meal or not?
It depends on how much detail you want to include. More detail could mean another type of planner, maybe more than one.
When you’ve confused yourself by having one page for each thing you’d like to include, ask your friends what they would want in a weekly meal planner.
Narrow It Down.
How many pages? Think about what type of planner it is.
The clue is in the name.
For a “weekly anything”, I would expect to have 52 pages as there are 52 weeks in a year.
No genius involved, folks. Nothing to worry about 🙂
Having asked your friends what they would want, what would YOU want in a weekly meal planner?
If you asked me, I would want it as simple as possible, to be able to open it and see space for a weeks’ worth of meals.
One week per page with space for three meals each day.
Simple.
Space to write a shopping list if necessary.
Would I need calorie information?
No, I eat low carb, and it’s a meal planner not a food tracker.
I want to be able to plan my meals for the week and have them written down in one place.
Ideally, I’d like to have my meals written in one smallish book so I can keep track of when I last had beefburgers.
Get Some Variety.
One of the benefits of having a weekly meal planner is to get more variety in your diet.
Shopping will be less haphazard. Go with a list rather than thinking “what do I fancy tonight?”
You’ll see how boring your meals have been so you can pep them up a bit.
Be adventurous.
Try new things – different fish, vegetables you’ve seen and haven’t tried yet.
