I like creating patterns with shapes. Usually I use several different shapes but, for the design above, I used two shapes. Rectangles and pies but mostly rectangles.
Being introduced to a graphics program I had to find my way around it. Shame to waste it. I surprised myself with how good some of my designs looked.
Basic shape – one rectangle and one pie:
Doesn’t look much but then I added more rectangles:
Looking good so I added a layer of smaller rectangles then added another slightly smaller pie:
It’s taking shape.
I planned to do a coloring design which would be as easy or complex as the colorist wanted. So I added another layer of smaller rectangles and a circle instead of the pie. Why? The pie segments weren’t needed because the rectangle corners would create enough lines.
Added another layer of still smaller rectangles and a smaller circle. I soon won’t need a circle because the rectangles will get smaller every layer.
Time for the last rectangles/circle combo:
You can see where the circle and pie layers are.
Time for reducing rectangles:
You can see the rectangles getting shorter and narrower:
Fewer rectangles as the piece draws to a close:
Just doing the final bits:
And we’re done 🙂
Okay, so I’ve shown you how another of my designs was put together.
Please tell us in the comments what you would have done differently?
‘Til next time.
