When meditating, you focus on your breathing, what’s being said (in a guided meditation) and relaxing each part of your body.
Opposite to coloring, so how can you turn your coloring fix into mediation?
Preparing to Meditate.
You need:
Room to sit comfortably
CD or mp3 recording for guided meditation (I like Relax: Guided Meditations to Ease Stress & Anxiety)
No disruptions
Preparing to Color.
You need:
A design or coloring book
Coloring pencils or pens – (I use Staedtler Noris Club 144 NC24 Colouring Pencils – Assorted Colours (Pack of 24))
Check out how you’re feeling because your mood affects your coloring. Feeling anxious or angry? Go for a design with lots of white space or stripes – something to keep your pencil on the paper so you can get rid of your angst.
Relaxing music to have in the background. My favourite CD is this: CANON (SERENE TRACKS) DB – it has Pachelbel’s Canon (my long time favourite).
Results from Meditation.
Takes a couple of minutes to “recover” (fully come round from it)
Feel relaxed
Feel energised and ready to tackle anything.
Results from Coloring.
Takes a minute to put everything away
Recovery time not needed (unless you colored yourself or clothing by accident)
Feel relaxed despite being fully focussed on coloring
Feel energised and ready to tackle anything
Have a colored design
Exercised your hands by holding a pen or pencil and using precise movements to color in a design.
How About You?
Which relaxes you more – coloring or meditation?
Which do you prefer?
I’ve got to ask – do you go over the lines?
